Berhati2 makanan bercampur wine.. @ Carrefour Mid Valley

Sejak Carrefour tukar nama jadi Aeon ni, banyak la jualan penghabisan stok barang2 under Carrefour brand.. antaranya kat Carrefour Mid Valley, there is a section in a middle of a busy aisle with lots of barangan brand Carrefour.

I was particularly interested bila nampak a bottled cream cheese. But nasib baik I tengok ingredient dulu..here's what I saw..


Nama barang ni is sauce trois fromages.

Useful advice..make sure read the labels and pastikan tanda halal!

Applicants under the age of 14 tak perlu untuk hadir for interview if his/her parents have applied and have been granted US visa. Mula2 I did not know that, nasib la lepas research2 sket baru I realized. Senang la tak payah go and fetch my baby pulak just to bring her to the interview.

These are the documents needed for applicants below 14:

1. DS-160 confirmation page (baca sini for filling up DS-160)
2. Resit asal Standard Chartered yang bayar visa fee
3. Passport asal
4. Birth cert asal 
5. 1 copy of birth cert photocopy
6. Father and mother's visa page dalam passport tu (1 copy each)
7. Father and mother's biodata page dalam passport tu (yang page depan passport) - 1 copy each
8. Father's employment confirmation letter
9. Mother's employment confirmation letter

These list is for typical case la..i.e. kalau both parents ikut and both parents keje. If for any enquiries, call la call center diorang. 

Applying for below 14 tak perlu buat kat US embassy..hanya passkan kat officer kat US Visa Collection Center kat Wisma MCA. They call it 'dropbox facility' even though I did not see any dropbox..haha.

Applying for your child/children would mean that you will have to obtain your visa first. If you want to pick up your visa at Wisma MCA at the same time you would like to apply for your child/children, orang kat Collection Center tu ada photocopy machine..tanya je if boleh guna. 

Usually you can pick your child's visa the next day after 3pm. TAPI TAPI..diorang tak kasik amik dropbox visa lepas 3 pm.. (what da heck). Jadi the safest bet is after 2 days baru la datang k..I haritu pegi amik after 3 pm, dia tak kasik. Guard kata dropbox tak boleh lepas 3 pm, which was NEVER mentioned in any of the notifications. They gave us a slip of paper and kasik kad kecik untuk collect visa, tapi tak penah mention pasal amik sebelum pukul 3 for children below 14 using dropbox facility! Buang masa I disitu datang tanpa hasil.. Geram jugak la..

In the end selesai jugak la applying visa for the three of us.. Tak lama lagi akan ke US..

4. Complete the DS-160 form

Link here for the DS-160 form online. Allow yourself about 1 hour to complete this DS-160 form. I completed all the DS forms for myself, husband and Aisyah (baby pun kene). At the final section, dia akan tanya if anyone ada assist you in completing the form..pandai2 la nak jawab apa ek. Selalunya that section maybe untuk orang yang nak pergi US but not very conversant in English kot.

Security questions dia ada around 20 q's kot..! Banyak gila..


Antara soalan2 yang dia tanya orang yang apply visa B1: social visit (tourism): nama mak bapak, birthdates diorang, current employment, previous employment, have you been overseas for the past 12 months, nama current boss, nama previous boss in prev employment..jenuh jugak i tanya sume details2 itu from my husband. Since I was applying for B2 visa (business), soalan dia agak lain..tp it's so subtle I pun dah lupa apa beza dia..

Once you complete the DS-160 form, you will obtain an Application ID. Page tu kene print untuk bawak masa interview.







5. Create your account dalam US visa punya system, schedule appointment and add dependent if applicable

Kat sini untuk create account. Kat dalam account ni, you can view your payment status. Make sure kat dalam tu dia dah update yang u dah bayar duit visa kat Standard Chartered bank tu. Also you need to update your profile.

Two important parts dalam link ni are: schedule your appointment and add your dependent. Kat sini you can view empty slots for each day and book online. Walaupun dalam website dia akan kata boleh call to make appointment, however through my experience, walaupun dah call, dia akan kata suruh access internet jugak untuk view available slots. Penat aja call..dah la lama.

Add your dependent: kalau nak pegi interview sekali dengan orang lain (esp family members, maybe boleh utilize jugak utk colleagues for the same business trip kot), make sure guna feature ni. I learnt my lesson..kerana nak cepat dapat interview slot, I terus schedule appointment without adding a dependent (sebab nak my husband interview sekali with me). Reason is because I belum isi borang DS-160 dia..and it will take about an hour or so untuk lengkapkan borang dia pulak.

Lepas tu baru I realized that kalau kita dah confirm appointment slot, you cannot go back and add a dependent. If you want to add a dependent, you have to cancel your slot;..pastu baru repeat the process. Kalau dah cancel slot, tak jamin la dapat slot yang sama atau yang dalam masa terdekat kan..

BUT .. if your appointment yg dah confirm tu is in less than 24 hrs, tak boleh nak cancel dah..Kalau nak "cancel" jugak, you can opt utk tak datang pada hari appointment, dia akan kira sbg "no show". No show ok je, tp kalau 3x no show, u punya application akan cancel n duit visa feee akan burn.

6. Pegi visa interview

So in the end I went asing dengan my husband..I pegi dulu, and the next week, my husband pulak. I was surprised jugak la..tempat US embassy tu, tiap2 hari I lalu situ dari rumah tapi tak penah tau that that is the US embassy..tak de signboard apa sume..tembok tinggi.. I never know! I pun tau sket2 yang dia takde signboard and no indication coz I read from one of the blogs..I cuma nampak ada ramai orang beratur kat depan..so agak2 je la tu US embassy haha.

Dia kat Jalan Tun Razak.. kalau cam sekaran g ni, depan Naza TTDI punya project..kat depan dia ada banner 'The Where's Where for the Who's Who' tu.. temporary banner while the project still undergoing construction.

It is at the Jalan Tun Razak side yang menghala ke Cheras. It is just before Mercedes punya showroom (Mercedes or VW or Volvo..adoi tak ingat).

I park dekat jalan in between embassy and showroom tu..free je parking. eventhough ada orang kata kene bayar, so check2 la dulu kalau tak sure. Coz I tak sure..My hubby pun tak bayar jugak. Takde pun kene saman la..

The downside of pegi asing2 for interview ni was my husband was being asked kenapa tak pergi sama with me, the fact that we are going to US together. Penat Hubby had to explain why..benda camtu pun suspicious..

7. Collecting your visa

You can opt to self collect kat Wisma MCA Jalan Ampang, or by post. Opening hours is 8.30-12.30 and 1.30-4.30 pm. If you passed the visa interview, you will be given a small card untuk bawak waktu collect visa.

Kat Wisma MCA tu, you need to register kat tempat guard.. parking was OK banyak space jugak, but the autopay was hampeh..By the time I'm writing, autopay dia ada masalah tak terima coins. And worse, it will not give change (kene bayar exact fee). 30 minit kena bayar RM 1.50, so be prepared la untuk bawak exact change. I terkejar2 jugak la carik duit exact..last2 I was directed to parking services untuk bayar manually..

Tempat untuk collect visa is Level 19. You need to register dekat guard at Level 19 lagi..pastu kene simpan beg dekat locker depan guard. Jangan le bawak barang berharga. When I got out after collect visa, takde pun guard yang jaga beg I. Nasib ler beg murah je. Phone kene switch off, the guard really ensured yang I dah tutup my phone..skema betul!

Once inside, alahai..kecik gila je bilik dia. Smaller than my office room agaknya..haha. I was the only one there so memang cepat la habis.

Alhamdulillah..finally finished with applying US visa for myself and husband. Tinggal lagi visa Aisyah yang belum apply. Here I would like to write about my experience, applying for business or travel visa.

1. When to apply for US Visa
Before planning to apply visa, of course buat passport dulu!

Make sure plan betul2 bila nak apply for visa, jangan dah lambat baru nak buat. I learnt my lesson here.. not that my travel dah nak dekat, in fact I will travelling in mid June so time I buat tu ada dalam 3 bulan lagi.. rasa cam lambat lagi kan. But bear in mind you had to buy flight tickets. Walaupun kita boleh beli tiket flight tanpa ada visa lagi, tapi what if by any chance you are not granted visa, bukan ke haru biru jadi.. We had to buy tickets early for my husband and Aisyah coz we self-pay for the tickets, jadi kena la amik yang paling murah. I pulak, hmm..terpaksa la dok economy class sebab takkan nak duduk dengan Aisyah kat business class. Yang tu rasanya OK lagi without my Hubby's help..but my reluctance is that, Aisyah's business class ticket is RM 3000+ !! Mahal , tak jadi!!

Apply for US visa as early as possible.. advisable at least 3 months before, according to its website (or maybe somewhere I read, cannot remember). And remember to apply for passport first before you do your visa!!

Lagi satu, passport photo untuk visa. Background colour putih n saiz gambar passport tu pun tak sama dgn gmbr passport biasa. Orang visa cuma amik satu je, so tak payah beli byk. And remember to ask for softcopy from the kedai coz you are gonna need it untuk isi borang DS 160 online

2. Visa Type

Untuk kita2 ni, biasanya is Nonimmigrant Visa lah kan.. I applied for B1/B2 visa i.e. business and tourist visa. Hubby and Aisyah is B2 visa = tourist visa. Harga untuk both visa sama je.. USD 160. Time I pegi tu it was equiv to RM 512.00

3. Pay Your Visa Fee

I was rather late to do visa coz we were in the midst of buying flight tickets, baru teringat nak buat visa. So agak rushing to do things.. I was settling my visa fee on Friday, hoping that I can get a slot for visa interview early next week. As you may or may not know, visa fee hanya boleh bayar kat Standard Chartered branches throughout Malaysia ataupun online, tapi online is only applicable for those yang ada Standard Chartered nyer account. I was rushing petang Jumaat to settle, so it was a relief to know yang ada branch kat Lot 10 yang bukak sampai 6 pm. Yang lain sume dah tutup pukul 4pm.. good service kat Lot 10. Even bukak weekends. First time datang Lot 10..parking pun OK.. parking mahal sikit la, RM 3 sejam (tapi I claim balik kat company haha).

The person at bank will ask you for this to ensure you pay the exact amount as written in slip. I paid for three of us, so I print tiga slip. You boleh bayar untuk sesapa yang u nak..

Important to note that they only accept cash. Since I was in a rush, I was banking on them accepting debit card/credit card for the transaction, unfortunately hanya cash. Nasib baik depan bank tu ada 3 ATM.. Maybank, CIMB.. (tak ingat lagi satu apa). So I withdrew money there.
